Music Performance Review: Kirin Ichiban Festival 2011
Had an awesome time last night at Clark Quay thanks to Kirin Beer Singapore for organising the event!
The live performance by KUNI-KEN, Takahiro Ueno and Hifana were simply dazzling.
Took plenty of videos of the performance and photos.
an endless supply of Kirin beer and japanese food for the night kept my tummy happy while I enjoyed the great performance.
The way KUNI-KEN is able to change the pitch of the shamisen so easily to adapt with the different songs, is totally skillful!
I love how they made the effort of speaking english when introducing their songs, and speaking simple japanese during the talks. During the talk, KUNI-KEN was showing the shamisen, and how the shamisen had Kirin logo “magically” on their shamisen. keke.
I wonder, how many papers of notes was made to prepare for this performance ~
KUNI-KEN performed medley of various songs of theirs and of other musicians and also a collaboration with Takahiro, such as Funky Time, Realize, Progress, Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’, Deep Purple’s “Smoke On The Water”, have left the night’s mood totally hype high!
2nd half of the performance – KUNI-KEN have changed their performance clothes.
The infusion of shamisen electrified the performance! Loves it! Totally enjoyed myself.
Takahiro’s first appearance was the collaboration with KUNI-KEN. There was a mischievous part of Takahiro when he used the escalator dance that cause a slight short disappearance period causing Kuniaki giving an “ah, where is he look” and a slight pause of the shamisen.
No photos was taken during “Mr Handsome” performance as I was recording the performance, whereas the other two performance – Mr. Takahiro had moved around the stage and audience corner too much! That I opt for photo-taking instead. His performance started with his “dream – Mr Handsome”, the “student – Takahiro” and the “strong Takahiro after drinking Kirin”.
the “strong Takahiro after drinking Kirin” performance~
During the talk, Takahiro explained how he keeps fit by drinking Kirin, and how he was able to dance marvelously by keeping a child mindset where curiosity of even the slightest item can be used for a performance.
The 2nd half performance with KUNI-KEN. Collaboration performances gives additional marks as both KUNI-KEN and Takahiro was playing around with the music and dancing.
one of my favourite part of the collaboration performance.
A successful collaboration, and the first overseas collaboration for both KUNI-KEN and Takahiro, apparently they promised to perform again overseas after their first surprise collaboration in Japan, and they DID, thanks to Kirin Beer Singapore!
I hoped you enjoyed my review as much as I enjoyed writing the post. And have a funky sunday!
